Basket case

I will leave for others to decide whether I am a total basket case or not... but I will freely admit to being extremely fond of baskets. I have quite a few of them and use them for all intents and purposes. But I have never had one like this before.





But what do I get with the gift voucher, worth quite a bit of money, that I got for my winning photo. So many lovely things at Lille Maison I am spoilt for choice. To be honest, the decision was not a difficult one.





As soon as I saw this basket I knew it was the one! And I knew where I would put it too. In my little cubby house come studio. Where there always seems to be a shortage of storage space. I know I will put this one into good use. And I think it looks pretty smart too...

embroidery hoops + doilies = art...

I find it hard to walk past a pretty vintage doily in a thrift shop or garage sale as I love all the variations in the designs and the muted colours. Recently I bought myself a pile of different sized embroidery hoops in the sales and today I stretched a few pretty doilies to fill a blank spot on my living room wall. I tried not to stretch them too tight as I didn't want to force them out of shape, and I left the excess on the back rather than trimming it off so I can re-use them at a later date. I thought about painting the hoops but decided I liked the natural look. Nothing like a quick an easy decorating project for instant gratification!!!

Spring Time

I love nothing more than approaching Spring and giving my home a revamp, its always the time that my home has a complete spring clean, cupboards get sorted, quilts dry cleaned, throws packed away ready for next winter and the best part is sorting my Summer wardrobe ready for some much needed new Summer clothes. I always get so much more motivated to start walking in the mornings or perhaps its the fear of summer clothing on a body that has enjoyed way to much comfort food this winter!!! Yep the diet has started :-(

Every Spring I like to freshen up old cushions with a complete revamp of new Summer colours and with fabulous fabrics available for everyone, what better time than now. Spring is the perfect time to have high tea parties with friends, fabulous lunches with the most beautiful plates, glasses and napkins.

I love using potted hydrangea's in my home and thank goodness they are back in season like so many other beautiful flowers.
